Essential oils have unexpectedly become a part of my life in the past year. My cousin and aunt both started using them and piqued my interest. I started looking into them and trying them and I found that certain oils dramatically reduced my headaches, decreased stress and anxiety, and uplifted my moods. Honestly, I was amazed! I’ve begun to diffuse blends in our apartment and I can’t even tell you how cozy they make our place feel! Today, I thought I’d share some of the best oils and diffuser blends for the holidays!
Best Oils for the holidays:
–Arborvitae: Has a warm, earthy aroma, great for protecting against seasonal threats. Uses: add a few drops to a spray bottle with water and spray on surfaces or hands to protect against environmental threats. Use during meditation for a sense of peace and calm. Apply to wrists and ankles while hiking. Diffuse to purify the air and to repel insects inside the home. Mix 4 drops of Arborvitae essential oil and 2 drops Lemon essential oil for a natural wood preservative and polish.
–Cedarwood: Has a rich hue and warm, woody scent, great for its clarifying properties. Uses: after a difficult day, diffuse to create a relaxing environment. During your facial routine, add one to two drops to your facial toner or moisturizer to promote clear, healthy-looking skin.
–Cinnamon Bark: Has a spicy scent, great for its health-promoting benefits. Uses: put 2 drops in an empty veggie capsule to maintain a healthy immune system. Place 1 drop of Cinnamon essential oil in hot water or tea and drink slowly to soothe your irritated throat (dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid). Put 2-3 drops in a spray bottle for a quick and effective cleaning spray. During your nightly routine, add one drop to two ounces of water and gargle for an effective mouth rinse. Dilute with Doterra Fractionated Coconut Oil and create a warming massage for cold, achy joints during winter time.
–Wild Orange: Has an energizing aroma, great for uplifting the mind and body. Uses: use in an all-purpose spray to cleanse and purify surfaces. Add a drop to your water every day for a burst of flavor and to promote overall health (dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid). Diffuse to uplift mood and energy levels and to freshen the air. For an energizing boost, dispense one to two drops in the palm of your hand along with equal parts Peppermint and Frankincense. Rub palms together and inhale deeply from palms, then rub on the back of the neck.
–Frankincense: Has a warm, spicy, clean aroma, great for promoting feelings of peace and overall wellness. Uses: rub Frankincense on your hands after a long day for a warming and soothing effect. Apply topically to help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections. Can be applied to the bottoms of feet to promote feelings of relaxation and to balance mood. Take one to two drops in a veggie capsule to support healthy cellular function (dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid).
–Clove: Has a spicy, warm, woody aroma, great for stimulating and energizing. Uses: add one drop to toothpaste to clean teeth and gums. Place one drop in two ounces of water and gargle for a soothing effect. Take in veggie capsules to support cardiovascular health (dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid).
–Doterra Balance: Has an airy, fresh, sweet, woody aroma, great for promoting a whole-body sense of relaxation. Uses: begin your day by putting Balance on the bottom of your feet to promote feelings of calmness and tranquility throughout the day. Balance is a great oil blend to use during an ArmaTouch Hand Massage. Apply to your wrists or neck to help ease anxious feelings. Diffuse in your car during trips to create a calming, soothing environment.
–Cheer Touch: Has a fresh, sunshiny aroma, great for promoting positive emotions. Uses: roll-on to counteract negative emotions and provide a boost of happiness and positivity when you’re feeling down.
