Welcome back to the blog! I hope you all are well. Today, I wanted to give you a little bit of an update on my hair! I chopped off 10+ inches off my hair last summer and haven’t looked back! I’ve been loving my lob so much that I think I will forever have this haircut because it feels so right. This may sound weird, but when I look at my photos with my old, long hair, to me, I look like I’m wearing a wig! Let’s just say, short hair seems so much more natural and me!
Hair Care Routine
I usually go for this shampoo and this conditioner twice a week, style my hair with this straightener or this curling iron, use a bit of this oil after styling my hair, and then this texturizing spray to finish it off. My routine is super simple, but I’ve found that it works for me! Recently, I’ve been wanting to try some new products just to see what’s out there and I’m so happy I did! Influenster sent me these Living Proof products and I couldn’t resist fitting them into my routine.
Cut & Style
My hairdresser, Mollie, helped me find my forever hairstyle. I always go for blended layers, especially in the back and lots of texture throughout. I love a messy, undone look – it’s so easy to pull off and style. Since cutting my hair off last summer, I haven’t switched it up much, but after my latest appointment at Suite Escape, Mollie convinced me to start adding braids back into my hair! To get the effortless waves, I either use this straightener or this curling iron. With the straightener, I pull my hair and turn it, then pull straight down. With the curling iron, I leave a bit out at the end and at the top. Super easy!
As for the products, I’ve been trying a few from Living Proof after Influenster sent a few my way (if you guys haven’t heard of Influenster, you need to make an account on their website right now! They send you free products to test and review – it’s seriously so much fun). I’m going to tell you guys how I used the different products and my thoughts on them!
01. T.B.D. Multi-Tasking Styler: I used this cream after I styled my hair and applied a small amount to smooth out any flyaways I had. It wasn’t heavy or oily, so it was perfect for my hair! Here’s what the packaging says: “To Tame and Groom: Apply a small amount to dry hair and smooth with hands. To Blowout: Apply to damp hair. Comb through. Blow-dry using a brush. To Deconstruct: Apply a liberal amount to dry hair focusing on mid-lengths to ends. Scrunch and tousle.”
02. Prime Style Extender: I didn’t test this product because my hair keeps the style pretty well on its own, but either way, I always put my hair up at the end of the day which destroys any trace of style anyway. Though, it does sound like a nice product! Here’s what the packaging says: “Apply to damp hair from roots to ends. Comb through. Style as usual. Use alone or under other stylers.”
03. Blowout: I didn’t even test this product because I don’t own a hairdryer (yes, it’s true!). However, I think it would be a great product to use in combination with a round brush to style your hair! Here’s what the packaging says: “Section hair, mist & blowout with brush. Spray on finish styles for extra hold.”
04. Flex Shaping Hairspray: I love love love this hairspray! It’s one of those that, to the touch, you can hardly tell is there, but you can tell by the looks of your hair because it’s still in the place you wanted it! It didn’t leave my hair feeling tacky or sticky like a lot of hairsprays do, which is a huge plus for me. Here’s what the packaging says: “Spray on damp or dry hair and style with desired heat too! Spray on finished style for flexible hold and to extend your look.”
I started going to Suite Escape earlier this year and have absolutely loved it. All the girls who work there are so sweet and the decor is absolutely adorable! They offer so many different services like hair extensions, eyelash extensions, blowouts, microdermabrasion, facials, and so much more! I highly recommend making an appointment there if you live in Indianapolis. I’ve written a review here of my time at Suite Escape (including a few photos!) if you’d like to read it.
I hope you all enjoyed this post! You can read my other posts about my hair here. Make sure you come back for Friday’s Fall post!
