I think the majority of travelers have that moment where they realize that they love to travel. Today I’m sharing my “moment” that I fell in love with traveling.
I’ve always had a love for packing up a bag and going somewhere I haven’t been before. I get chills walking through the airport with my luggage in hand. However, it wasn’t until this past year that I knew that I loved traveling so much that I would give up time, money, and tangible items in order to do so.
During Gary and I’s trip to Kauai, we both experienced so many things that we never had before. I remember looking over the edge of the Waimea Canyon thinking about how I’d never seen anything like it before. I tried to take picture after picture but nothing matched what was right in front of my eyes. This occurred over and over again as we explored the island. Kauai genuinely opened my eyes to all of the wondrous nature we’re surrounded by on this earth. That was the moment I knew I was in love with traveling and seeing new places for the first time.
When I was standing there looking over the Waimea Canyon, when I was scuba diving with G among all the fish at Tunnels Beach, and when we found a secret beach in Hanalei, I knew that I would never be the same again. I had been exposed to some of the most beautiful places on earth and I knew that I couldn’t stop there. I had to keep seeing and experiencing these beautiful places with my own eyes.
Gary and I left Kauai with our goal to have one big trip to somewhere we’ve never been to each year. If one big trip a year wasn’t possible, then we’d take a small trip or two to somewhere we’ve never been before. To us, travel is worth all the money and time that goes into it. Our goal is to experience new places rather than accumulate things.
I’m so excited to continue sharing mine and G’s travels in the upcoming new year. I hope to show you the honest truth about our experiences – the inspiring, the stress, the ups, and the downs. If you want to get out there and explore, I want to inspire you to see the world however you can. Whether it’s just a new park on the other side of town or a country on the other side of the world, I hope I can inspire you to do what you can to get there.
Our next destinations include: Florida, Dallas, Nevada, California, Iceland, Denmark, & South Carolina!
