I love seeing sneak peeks into people’s routines and daily lives. I think reading about something so normal, like a nightly routine, makes the mysterious blogger behind the screen that much more human. I don’t know! Maybe I’m just nosy? Anyways.. I love reading about other’s routines, so I thought I’d share mine today!
Removing Makeup & Cleansing Skin
During the week, I like to start getting ready for bed around 8:30 p.m. I know this may seem rather early, but I like to take my time and enjoy the process. I first like to take my makeup off. I use the Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil. I love this product because it doesn’t have harmful ingredients and it’s super gentle on the skin! After I’ve gently rubbed the oil all over my face, I hop directly in the shower. I take my washcloth and remove all the remaining oil and makeup. After my makeup has been removed, I take my scrublet and put a small amount of Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and cleanse my skin.
Once out of the shower, I’ll cover myself in Jergens Hydrating Coconut Moisturizer (it smells like the beach!) and if I have any eye makeup left around my eyes, I like to take a cotton ball and add a few drops of Maybelline’s Expert Eyes Liquid Eye Makeup Remover to it. This eye makeup remover is so nice – it removes the toughest of eyeliner! After I’ve removed the last bits of eye makeup, I start my skincare. If my skin is feeling a bit bumpy or textured, I’ll take my Clarisonic Mia 2 and go over my skin. Afterward, I’ll apply my moisturizer. I just bought Giovanni’s Replenishing Facial Moisturizer and am absolutely loving it! It’s vegetarian and organic, which is a huge plus for me these days. It leaves my skin so soft and smooth! After my moisturizer has been applied, I’ll apply Tarte’s Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment around my eyes. Once my simple skincare routine is done, I’ll take out my contacts, put my glasses on, and brush my teeth.
Preparing the atmosphere
After I’ve completed my skincare, I’ll head to the kitchen and turn off all the lights, leaving only the hall light on. Turning the lights off prepares me to go to sleep – this isn’t something I started doing consciously, but the other day I realized I was doing it, so I’ve stuck to it because it makes me feel more zen! A few minutes before bed, I’ll add some water to my diffuser and then add 4 or 5 drops of lavender oil to it. I then set the diffuser to run for six hours while we’re getting ready for bed and sleeping. I’ve been sleeping so much better since I bought a diffuser – it works wonders!
