Since summer is finally here and the hot weather has arrived, I’ve been exchanging my powdered formulas for cream formulas. Today, I thought I’d share the products I’ve been using during the warmer weather.
For the skin, I love Tarte’s Brazilliance skin rejuvenating maracuja self tanner. Being a fairly pale girl, it’s very hard for me to find a self tanner that doesn’t make me look like an oompa loompa. However, this self tanner is so natural and gives me a good amount of color without turning me orange (let me know if you’d like a full review of it!). The second product I’ve just got into is Pixi’s Hydrating Milky Mist. This mist is perfect for hydrating the skin after it’s been out in the sun all day.
For the base, I’ve been using two completely different products. The first product is a BB Cream (also mentioned in this post) by CoverGirl. I would never normally wear a BB Cream out, but I think they’re good to have on hand when I go to the pool or beach. This one has SPF 21, covers quite well, and blends easily. The second product I’ve been using is Kiko Mat Mousse Oil Free Foundation. Although I’ve been loving glowy skin, I’ve been using this matte foundation a lot for the longer days where I don’t want my makeup to budge and don’t want to fuss with touchups.
For the cheeks, I’m obsessed with Tarte’s cheek stains as they are so long lasting even in warm weather making them perfect for summertime. They have some really fun colors, but I’d recommend Blushing Bride and Exposed. Also on the cheeks, I really love using a cream highlighter. Specifically, Benefit’s Watt’s Up! The formula payoff is just so good on the cheeks with its champagne coloring.
For the eyes, it’s the time of year when I add in waterproof mascara. I don’t wear waterproof mascara every day, but I think it’s a great product to have around if I’m outside all day or near the water. Maybelline’s the Rocket Volum’ Express is my favorite regular mascara, so I have the waterproof one as well, but I’m not so sure I love it. If you have any waterproof mascara recommendations, send them my way! Also for the eyes, I go for gold, copper, and brown tones in the summer. My favorite eyeshadows are Urban Decay’s Bootycall, Half Baked, Snakebite, and Suspect. For more affordable options, I really like Maybelline’s The Blushed Nudes palette. This palette has a really good brown as well as a copper that’s perfect for my favorite summer go-to look.
For the lips, I like Benefit’s Posie Balm. I’m not a big user of lipstick, so I go for lip balms instead. Posie Balm is the perfect in-between as it’s in lipstick form, but acts as a lip balm. A great aspect of this product is that the color is buildable and the formula is super smooth on the lips.
What are you adding on rotation this summer?
