Product Review | Tarteist Contour Palette

Welcome back to another product review! Today’s review is all about the Tarteist Contour Palette by Tarte Cosmetics.

As I think I’ve mentioned before, Tarte is my favorite brand. I love their products, packaging, and story. It’s one brand that I go back to over and over again! Now, onto the product.

The packaging is to die for! The outside of the circular palette is gold with a mirrored back. There’s a large mirror on the inside, which is great for everyday use and traveling. For a contour palette, I feel as though the size of products is on par with mainstream contour palettes. The products are magnetic, so if you tip the palette facing the floor, they will drop out. I think Tarte’s idea behind that was it allows the products to be added to another palette to essentially create a palette of all the products you love, no matter what brand.

What’s Inside
The palette contains one highlighter, one yellow corrector, one glow shade, one blush, and two contour shades.

I’m sure everyone is familiar with highlighters, yellow correctors, blushes, and contours, but not the “glow” shade, so let me explain because I had no idea either! In the small contour guide that comes with this palette, Tarte explains to apply the glow shade under the brow bones, to the inner corners of the eye, and on the cupid’s bow in order to brighten and illuminate the angles of the face – it creates such a difference in lighting up the face!

As for the product formulation, the color payoff is great! A little product goes a long way, which I think is a huge factor when thinking about buying this palette. I have to say that the lighter shade of contour is perfect for lighter skin tones. This is the only contour shade I’ve tried that didn’t make me look orange!

This palette retails for $45, which I think is a very fair price for a contour palette. Plus, I think that the products will last quite a long time.

Pros & Cons
With every product comes likes and dislikes, so I’m going to leave you with these points:
-The highlight shade is very subtle. If you’re into super shimmery and noticeable highlight, you won’t like this highlighter.

-The blush is a very natural shade that’ll look good on anyone. It’s definitely buildable as well!

-The contour shades are perfect for everyone. They can be used as is or mixed together to become whatever shade you need.

-The palette smells like chocolate. I personally love the scent and am sensitive to smells, but it doesn’t bother me at all. If you’re someone who is deterred by scents in your makeup, this probably isn’t the palette for you.

-Unfortunately, it seems as though this palette is limited edition and you can’t buy any of the products on the inside separately. I think it would be a great idea if Tarte sold the products separately for the ability to switch in refills, but for now, they don’t.

Have you tried this palette? What’s your favorite contour palette?
