I’ve been looking for a toner for ages and have yet to find one that I really like until I tried Valentia’s Fresh Mist Calming Toner. The toner claims that it “rehydrates and refreshes” the skin “while balancing natural pH and shrinking pores.” Did it live up to its claims? Read on for my full review.

What I don’t like:
-The scent

Let’s start with the packaging and application. The toner comes in a plastic, 4 fl oz bottle. It has a spray top with a lid over it, which makes application throughout the day easy. I think this is a very hygienic and user-friendly way to package a toner. Thumbs up on packaging and application!

Priced at $20, I think this toner is pretty affordable, though I’m willing to spend more on skincare. The bottle is quite large, so I think that it should last quite at least six months for me.

The consistency of this toner is thicker than other toners I’ve tried. Its consistency is in between a watery-toner and a milky one.

In regards to the performance of the toner, I can only speak on a few aspects. The first is that I have quite small pores as it is and never notice them, so I can’t say that this toner shrunk my pores because I never had a problem with large pores in the first place. The second is that I truly feel as though this toner rehydrated my skin after I cleansed it. As most of you know, I have really dry skin, so after I wash my face my skin is desert dry. This toner definitely brought back some moisture into my skin and made it feel rehydrated. The third is that the toner sinks into the skin very quickly. Upon first spraying it on my face, I noticed my skin felt a little sticky, but the toner had sunk into my skin in less than a few minutes. The fourth is that I’ve also used this toner as a facial spray over my makeup. You guys know that I love facial sprays, so being able to use this toner as a facial spray over my makeup to rehydrate throughout the day is a huge plus for me.

I have extremely sensitive skin so I am ultra aware of ingredients in products. I always research ingredients in products before ever buying. This toner is formulated without alcohol and parabens, which I find really nice and quite hard to find these days.

The one aspect of this toner I don’t like is the smell. It has underlying scents of lavender, which I’m not a huge fan of. It’s not too strong, but it’s still there. However, the scent does disappear shortly after application.
