Living in a new place and away from family means fairly frequent trips to new destinations and back home. In order to pack effortlessly, I have a few go-to products that I always bring with me when I leave home for travel. Today I’m sharing my travel-friendly makeup kit.
For application, I bring just a few key tools. The first is a Real Techniques buffing brush. It’s a great brush to have on hand as it makes applying foundation super easy. The second tool that always makes it into my travel makeup kit is a beauty blender. I love beauty blenders because they’re so versatile and give such a nice application. The third tool is an eyelash curler. I can’t go anywhere without curling my eyelashes first, so having an eyelash curler with me is essential. The fourth and final tool is a makeup bag. I love the one I have because it’s clear, which makes it easy to look inside and see what I have.
For foundation, my go-to is always Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. I repurchase it over and over again because I think it’s perfect for every day – not too heavy coverage, but is buildable for a nighttime look. For concealer – no surprise here – I love Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. The concealer can be put on blemishes and under the eyes. In terms of powder, I always like to have one with me on hand. A good all-rounder is Maybelline Fit Me Powder. For bronzer, I just started using CoverGirl’s Cheekers Bronzer and have been enjoying it. It’s ultra tiny but perfect for travel. For blush, I use a cheek stain from Tarte. It’s a great option because it can be applied with your fingers or with a beauty blender. For highlighter, I always bring Benefit’s Watts Up because like the cheek stain, it can be applied with your fingers or a beauty blender.
For the eyes, I think it’s essential to pack a functional mascara. My favorite is L’OREAL’s Voluminous Waterproof Mascara. It’s ideal because it can be built up with multiple layers without looking clumpy. I consistently bring a black eyeliner. My ultimate favorite black eyeliner is Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. It’s super long lasting and definitely has travel-friendly packaging. The last item for eyes I bring is some sort of eyeshadow palette. I never know if I’m going to want to wear eyeshadow, so I usually bring one just in case.
I’m really a no-fuss person when it comes to my lips. I like sticking to what I know and that’s chapstick. I know it’s lame and I’m trying to find the perfect lip shade for me (I ordered this one last week), but until then I’m a chapstick girl through and through. One of my favorites is Burt’s Bees pomegranate lip balm. It has a subtle tint to it, so it’s not like a super sheer balm on the lips.
